The Portland Bight Protected Area is one of Jamaica's greatest national treasures, containing forests, wetlands, seagrass beds, and coral reefs. Hellshire is among the largest and most pristine examples of dry tropical forest in the entire Caribbean. It is a unique ecosystem where water lilies grow beside large columnar cacti, ospreys catch fish from the air, coneys and crocodiles are close neighbours and the Critically Endangered Jamaican Iguana is making a recovery from near extinction.
